Best tower for facilities management

Facilities work is the most varied tower use there is: ceiling tiles, luminaires, sensors, AHU access, signage, the odd leak chase — different heights, different buildings, often different people building the tower. The right FM tower is the one that handles that variety without drama.

The workhorse: a folding low-level tower

Most FM tasks happen at 2.4–4 m ceilings. A folding tower with a ~1 m platform wheels through corridors and doorways, builds in minutes, and stores in a plant room or cupboard. For many estates this unit does 80% of all access tasks and simply lives wherever the work is.

The second tower: mid-height, single width

Atriums, receptions, sports halls and external plant justify a full tower with platforms to 4–6 m. Single width earns its place indoors — it passes through double doors and fits lifts in some configurations. Choose a model whose height packs extend it later rather than buying maximum height on day one.

FM-specific considerations

• Multiple users: towers get built by whoever is on shift — keep the manual with the tower and put the regular users through PASMA training.
• Inspection regime: shared equipment needs a visible tag/record system; our checklist is a ready template.
• Storage: allocate a real location — towers stored in fire escape routes have a way of being "borrowed" and returned incomplete.
• Electrical environments: if the estate includes switchrooms or live plant, add one GRP unit to the fleet.
